Lavant won the toss and elected to bowl first
Chidham & Hambrook CC 104-8 (20 overs)
Lavant CC 105 for 5 (19.1 overs)
Chidham & Hambrook lost out to Lavant in the last over of a tight match at Bosham on Thursday evening.
The home side were put into bat and Clive Dungar immediately set about the Bosham bowlers and with a few lucky breaks was soon on his way to retirement (28). Captain Chris Pink and Andy Wild went for single figures but O'Donohuse and Whitewood steadied the ship with scores in the twenties before being caught and stumped respectively. The Chidham tailenders were unable to add any significant contributions to the home score and the winning target was set at 105.
The Debutant pairing of Strudders and Clark opened the bowling and kept the visitors score below 50 in the first 8 overs with Strudders taking a wicket with the first ball of his last over. Regulars Keynes and Dungar then set about the Lavant batters taking a brace of wickets each and still keeping the score low enough to earn the victory. Special mention goes to wicket keeper Steve Clarke who stumped out two players and Jon Keynes who made a stirling catch in the outfield thus saving Keith Davey the trouble. However Lavant kept piling on the pressure late in the game with several boundaries and ended up needing 4 of the last over to win which they duly obtained off Whitewood's first ball.
As the sunset over Bosham Creek Chidham are left without a win from their first three games but victory appears to be just around the corner.
