Chidham won the toss and elected to bat first
Chidham & Hambrook CC 90 all out (29.2 overs)
Ifield CC 91 for 1 (19 overs)
Chidham & Hambrook will have to wait another year for dreams of a playing at Lords after being overwhelmed by a strong Ifield side at Bosham on Sunday.
Captain Chris Pink won the toss and elected to bat first and on the very first bowl opener Steve Parker was caught behind from a stunning Graves delivery. Chidham's number 3 Ben Gottesman (0) soon followed from another Graves delivery before Pink (7) and O'Donohue (12) added some repsectability to the score line working alongside number 2 Dave McLean (31) who was the one highlight on a poor batting show by Chidham. Once McLean was bowled by Ahmed the Chidham tail end soon collapsed and the chase target was set at a paltry 91.
Following the tea interval the Ifield openers of Wragg and Ahmed soon set about making inrodes into Chidham's score despite strong bowling from the home side's attack. Ben Gottesman finally got Wragg out for 25 after wicketkeeper Steve Clarke made a stirling catch from the batsman's edge. Alas this was the only wicket that Chidham took and it was left for Ahmed (24) and Patel (33) to finish the rout on the 19 over mark.
Ifield now face Balcombe in the third round in two weeks time whilst Chidham are left to reflect on what might have been.
Man of the Match: Dave McLean
