07/07/16: Chidham & Hambrook CC v Skulking Loafers CC
Skulking Loafers won the toss and elected to bat
Skulking Loafers CC 185-3 (20 overs)
Chidham & Hambrook CC 149-3 (20 overs)
Chidham recorded their highest 20 over score of the season but that wasn't enough to chase down the Skulking Loafers total of 185 on Thursday at Bosham.
Chidham were playing their first game in four weeks and the lack of match practice showed as toss winners Skulking Loafers elected to bat and soon set about smashing the Chidham bowlers all over the park, reaching 40 runs after just 4 overs. Andy Clark was one of the bright sparks in an otherwise dull bowling performance, taking all of the Hawk's 3 wickets for 25 runs off his 4 overs, but the visitors still managed to reach 185 runs.
Hawk's opener Clive Dungar soon got caught for just one run and his partner John Strudwick struggled to get going eventually reaching 14 before also being caught. Chidham number 3 Ben Gottesman gave a tremendous performance with the bat and reached his forced retirement figure of 50 in only his second game this season. But the damage had already been done and O'Donohue, Pink and Davey despite all swinging well were unable to reach the winning target and Chidham eventually fell 27 runs short - the extraordinary number of wides and no balls, each receiving 2 runs and no extra ball, certainly didn't help the Hawk's in their quest.
Man of the Match: Andy Clark
